parts division of gm. you know delco batteries. we had gm that desperate to cut off its own parts and set off delphi as a separate company which immediately pretty quickly went bankrupt. well, down went the vulture's and they pick.delphi corp. out of bankruptcy court for 67 cents, a darned good deal for the entire auto parts division of general motors. 67 cents a share. within two years they flipped it. they went public at $22 a share. share. that is it 3200% prophet that they weren't done. they weren't done. delphi had 29 plans in the u.s. and the delphi group sold it back to gm and the rest, every single plant was sold, was sent off to china. every single uaw job, everyone, 25,200 uaw workers including -- i got a call from michael moore. his dad had the delphi plant and flint michigan. every job sent to china, every one. now that was not the plan. obama's administration came up with the deal with the owner of detroit to take over the delphi unit and basically give it back to general motors. gm, the pistons and the u.s. government would buy back delco auto parts and give it back

jobs, gm is back, chrysler is the fastest-growing auto maker in the nation, what is their response? it is outrageous, their response. in the last hours of this campaign, they have become truly desperate. i came from ohio -- they are running an ad in ohio and the following -- this is the god's truth. the ad they are running says the following -- it says that barack obama bankrupting the automobile industry so that it could be sold to the italians -- i do not know they have against the italians -- sold to the italians so they could offshore to china. that is what they are saying -- i am not making this up. ladies and gentlemen, here is the cynical part. just imagine, your from the upper midwest, my state is delaware, which was one of the biggest automobile producing states in the country. after all those guys and families have been through, hard-working folks working their whole lives, through no fault of their own because of the policies of the last administration in the last year before got elected, 400,000 automobile jobs lost. here is what is more important -- 400,000 people drop
. attorney general, as i remember, mitt romney wrote that op ed and said essentially the gm should go through a managed bankruptcy, which they did, which the president says that's essentially what saved the car industry. mr. attorney general? >> couple of things. first of all, ohio's recovery, if you look at the statistics, we've really not had the growth in the auto industry. what we've had is the growth as far as new jobs being created, in other areas. auto industry certainly is very, very important for the state. i don't think there is an area where the obama campaign is exaggerated more or misled more than on this issue. if you look back at the facts, what you had is a situation where governor romney said we needed federal intervention. he wanted to do it differently. the obama administration ended up taking detroit into bankruptcy. so for them to say that obama did not want to do that or that they had a different point of view, romney didn't want to do that is absolutely crazy. >> steve: governor, the fine word. >> the governor's own department of don't had just put -- development had ju
